Feinstein’s
Challenge: A Million Dollar Giveaway
For the eighth
year in a row, philanthropist Alan Feinstein of Rhode Island will be
giving one million dollars to hunger relief agencies, such as
Mountaineer Food Bank and others across the United States. All of the donations
received by Mountaineer Food Bank during the months of March and
April will count towards the Feinstein Challenge. Mr. Feinstein will
then make a contribution to Mountaineer Food Bank thereby increasing
the contributions. More than 3000 participating agencies nationwide
have benefited from Feinstein’s challenge raising over $350 million
dollars. It is the most successful grassroots campaign to fight
hunger in this country.
Mountaineer Food
Bank provides food and personal care items to more than 450 feeding
programs in 48 counties of West Virginia. The food collected by the
food bank is distributed by soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters,
after school programs and senior centers touching the lives of more
than 260,000 West Virginians every month. Please help Mountaineer Food
Bank obtain some of the Mr. Feinstein’s challenge money. The more money the Food Bank
can raise from March 1 - April 30, 2005, the more money Mr.
Feinstein will give to Mountaineer Food Bank to help feed hungry
West Virginians.
Donations of all sizes are helpful when feeding the hungry of
West Virginia. For
every $1.00 donated Mountaineer Food Bank will be able to acquire
and distribute $14.64 worth of food and personal care items.
