USDA – TEFAP PROGRAM
TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance
Program)
Mountaineer Food Bank is
contracted by the State of West Virginia Department of Agriculture
to distribute TEFAP commodity foods provided by the United States
Department of Agriculture. As these foods are made available by the
state, they are delivered at no cost to the member feeding programs
via Mountaineer Food Bank’s extensive 48 county truck distribution
routes. This enables the feeding programs to receive delivery of
America’s Second Harvest products and TEFAP products at one time
thus helping to streamline their time and budgets.
Distribution
of 3,816,212
pounds was made from July, 2001 thru September, 2002 by
Mountaineer Food Bank to member feeding programs.
